Brussels European Meeting 23 November 2011 - Warmia & Mazury Brussels Regional Office

East Poland House – Regional Office of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship in Brussels was the venue of Brussels European Meeting, SURF-Nature dissemination event that took place on 23 November 2011.


The conference which aim was to promote the idea and the results of the project among the representatives of European Union institutions and delegations of European regions was organized by two project partners – Warmia and Mazury (Poland) and Department Côtes d'Armor (France).

Around 30 participants who took part in the meeting had an opportunity to listen to the speeches regarding investing in biodiversity given by Mathieu Fichter, Environment Policy Analyst representing the European Commission – DG Regio and Peter Torkler, SURF-Nature project coordinator from WWF Germany, who also introduced the aim of the project. On behalf of the organizers came out Jan Bobek, Councillor of the Warmińko-Mazurskie Voivodeship and Philippe Meslay, Vice-president of the Côtes d'Armor General Council. They presented the experiences of their regions in matter of biodiversity preservation and pointed out the need of improving the effectiveness of use of the European funds.

Later on a discussion session took place which was preceded by the screening of the documentary film of Jan Zarębski “Destination Caps”, which showed the beauty of nature of Brittany.

After the official part of the meeting the participants had a chance to discuss more in smaller groups and taste the traditional Polish cuisine.
